It has been 12 years since the popular Volvo XC90 first went on sale, and we haven't seen any major updates - until now. This Volvo SUV may seem like it has less power because of the use of a 4-cylinder engine, but fear not. With today's technology, Volvo is able to use 4-cylinders to get great gas mileage while maintaining impressive power. Chicago drivers will likely choose between two Drive-E engines (though a 3rd option could be offered). The base "T6 engine" manages 316 hp, while the top-of-the-range XC90 'Twin Engine - T8' combines a two-litre, four-cylinder supercharged and turbocharged gas engine with an electric motor and offers an unbeatable combination of power and clean operation - around 400 total horsepower. Normal driving for this AWD plug-in model is done in the default hybrid mode, utilizing an engine that powers the front wheels and an 80 hp electric motor that drives the rear wheels. These T8 models can also run on electricity (up to 25 miles) or gas alone.

Another feat that the new Volvo is offering is that it is one of the safest cars on the street. There are many new safety features that will be offered in the Spring of 2015 from Volvo. These include two world first safety technologies: a run-off road protection package and auto brake at intersection capability.

If you're into styling, you can bet that you'll be impressed by Volvo's latest upgrades. There are two style packages to choose from for the 2016 XC90. The Urban Luxury package combines a color coordinated body kit with polished stainless steel details, such as front deco frames, front and rear skid plates and side scuff plates. The 21-inch wheels complete the urban look. The Rugged Luxury kit enhances the toughness of the XC90 SUV with tech matte black exterior trim, stainless steel skid plates, running boards with illumination and integrated exhaust pipes. This version gets extra style points for its 22-inch wheels.
