The Reimagined 2018 XC60

Howard Orloff is excited to welcome the redesigned 2018 Volvo XC60 to our lineup. It won't arrive on the lot until late 2017, but we're already gearing up for its grand arrival.

The new 5-passenger XC60 appears to be a miniature and more athletic-looking version of the new XC90. From the outside, you'll notice multiple XC90 traits such as the vertical grill, sculpted hood, and Volvo's signature LED daytime running lights. Where the XC60 really stands out is the angled rear, making it sportier than the XC90and its rounded rear. Compared to the 2017 XC60 model, the 2018 is also 2.4 inches longer, .5 inches wider and lower, and has a 3.6-inch longer wheelbase.

The biggest talking point of the new Volvo is, to no surprise, the safety features. Volvo continues to go above and beyond other manufacturers, putting out the most advanced safety technology. New to the 2018 models is the Steering Assist system. When it's paired with larger safety platforms, it helps avoid collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, and other objects - both during lane changes, and when drivers quickly approach a vehicle from behind. It'll actively keep the vehicle within lane lines between speeds of 36 and 87 mph.

Another new safety features is Oncoming Lane Mitigation, which Volvo crafted with head-on collisions in mind. Volvo's Pilot Assist is also available, and semi-automates the driving experience by handling steering, braking, and acceleration at speeds up to 80 mph.

The interior has an updated look, with many of the newer signature Volvo features including:

·         A large digital multi-informational display, replacing traditional gauges

·         Leather upholstery

·         Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system

·         Sensus infotainment system with 9-inch touchscreen

·         Bluetooth connectivity

·         Navigation

·         Panoramic sunroof

The design of the interior is quite impressive, too, with real driftwood, a mix of different leathers, chromed metal, and aluminum.

The new CleanZone climate system has four different zones for optimal temperature control in every area of the vehicle. It removes pollutants and particles that come in from the outside, keeping the air fresh and clean.

Under the hood, you'll have three available powertrain engine options, all versions of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder - the T5 turbocharged with 250 horsepower, T6 turbocharged and supercharged with 316 horsepower, and T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain with 400 horsepower.  The hybrid powertrain pairs a standard engine with an electric motor to run from zero-to-62 mph in 5.3 seconds.

If you're a Volvo lover, we know you're just as anxious for this model as we are.  We'll keep you up-to-date on exactly when we'll get the XC60 and you can be the first to give it a test drive.  In the meantime, check out our current inventory - all the Volvo vehicles are known for performance and their sleek design.
